It is the Small Things Done with Great Love that Build a Strong Marriage

The other night while we were eating dinner as a family, our rambunctious 2 year old, Anthony, started throwing his food from his high chair. After disciplining him, my husband got up and began cleaning up the mess, while his dinner got cold. While he was cleaning up the mess, our 7 and 9 year old (who were done eating) along with Anthony, started climbing all over my husband as he was on his hands and knees cleaning up the food from our kitchen floor. In that moment, I remember thinking – it is the little acts, like this, done with love that make me fall deeper in love with this man I am joined to in marriage! There is something so attractive that draws me in when I see my husband in humble service to me and our family. These are the moments, the little acts that we do to serve our spouse and our family each day, that build a strong marriage and family life.

Every day we are presented with opportunities to, as Mother Theresa said, “do small things with great love.” If you look at a stained glass window, it is made up of many small pieces that form a bigger picture. The little acts of service that we do each day out of love for God and our spouse create an image similar to that of a stained glass window. It is all the acts, all the pieces, when put together that make a lovely image – an image of authentic marital love. There is a beautiful quote from Alice Von Hildebrand in her book, By Love Refined, “From the outside, the stained-glass windows in a church look dull and dark; but when you enter the church and see the same windows illumined by the rays of the sun, you discover their incredible beauty. The light of the sun transforms stained-glass windows into magnificent works of art. Likewise, your love can transform the many small, boring tasks of married life into magnificent works of love.” (pp. 7-8)

As you encounter the unglamorous, everyday problems that threaten your marriage, remember that each small act of love builds your foundation stronger. What does your spouse selflessly do for you that you really appreciate? Do they make that phone call that you would rather not make? Do they clean up the garbage at the end of the driveway that an animal got into? Do they wake up with a sick child in the middle of the night and tend to their needs? What do you do to serve your spouse selflessly? Each of you have different strengths and weaknesses; knowing these will help you to serve one another in the most beneficial way.

Another powerful quote from By Love Refined is, “If someone were to give me many short bits of wool, most likely I would throw them away. What can I do with a few ounces of wool? A carpet weaver thinks differently. He knows the marvels we can achieve by using small things artfully and lovingly. Like the oriental carpet weaver, the good wife must be an artist of love. She must remember her mission and never waste the little deeds that fill her day – the precious bits of wool she’s been given to weave the majestic tapestry of married love.” (p.66)

This, of course, applies to husband and wife – both are called to weave love every day through small acts into the tapestry of your marriage. Let your marital love be refined by your willingness to embrace the mundane every day duties in a spirit of love and sacrifice. Watch your marriage grow stronger and your love for your spouse grow deeper. It is all part of God’s great plan for marriage!

Planning A Wedding? Read This Great Advice! (3)

Planning A Wedding? Read This Great Advice!

Weddings are a social gathering that will never diminish in today"s or our future"s society. That said, there are always different types of people from different cultures with different beliefs at every wedding. This article discusses ways to feel comfortable around different types of people at weddings and how to socially interact with them.

Make sure that you wear comfortable shoes on your wedding day. You will be standing throughout most of the ceremony and dancing for most of the reception, so you do not want to neglect your feet. This does not mean you have to get ugly shoes, just get comfortable, attractive ones.

Part of the planning for a destination should include checking out the typical weather for the time you want to get married. It"s not recommended to go to Bermuda during hurricane season, for example. Try to plan for a time where the weather is guaranteed to be sunny but not too hot.

At present, most grooms are becoming more involved in the wedding planning process than in past decades. As a bride, make sure to include your groom in the planning process, and use him as a resource for ideas and for suggestions so that you can feel a sense of togetherness and accomplishment once the big day comes.

Do not be afraid to have a destination wedding, even if you are on a budget. While some of these events can cost a lot of money, not all of them are extremely expensive. If you have a small event and choose your location carefully, you can have the wedding of your dreams at a very affordable price.

A good piece of advice to keep in mind for weddings is to make sure that the bride is dressed well for the wedding preparation, even before getting in their dress. This is important because these photos will be important memories and you want to make sure that you look your best.

If you are planning on bringing a new couple a very large gift to their wedding you should rethink that decision. They will have a hard enough time trying to keep everything organized without having that to worry about. To make things easier on them you should send the gift by mail.

Don"t put so much time and energy into what you want your name to be when you"re getting married. A name is just a name and it can be whatever you want it to be. You don"t even have to change it if you don"t want to. Don"t get stressed about it.

If you love the idea of adorable flower girls sprinkling petals across the aisle before your big entrance, you can still achieve this look for less by opting for faux rose petals and silk blooms. Fresh petals can easily set you back a few hundred dollars, but faux roses look nearly identical; after all, they will be trampled underfoot shortly.

As we have come to find, weddings invite an array of people from an array of backgrounds. Not everybody there will have the same point of view. However, there are ways to get along with everybody and be the "Switzerland" of the group. Just apply the aforementioned advice from this article and you will be a professional, adaptive wedding guest!

Great Tips For Making Your Wedding Day Shine! (2)

Great Tips For Making Your Wedding Day Shine!

The first thing most people think about after they decide to get married is the wedding they will have. A wedding is a wonderful time to invite family and friends to celebrate your love and commitment, but it also takes a lot of work. Here are some tips to make sure your wedding goes well.

Make sure that you never plan your bachelor or bachelorette parties the day before the wedding. There may be a lot of drinking at these parties, and the last thing that you will want to do is ruin the day of your wedding because you are not fully functional. Have a calm day right before your wedding.

Try to have a couple close friends on standby to solve emergency problems. This should be your day, so you should be able to enjoy it without worrying if the priest will be there on time. After you found these friends, let go of the problems and allow them to do things for you.

Examine your guest list closely. Weddings are expensive, and your friends will not take it personally if you are not able to include them in the celebration. Review your list and think about how necessary it is for each person to come to your special day. You can save a lot of money by trimming the list down.

When getting quotes from vendors for your wedding, avoid mentioning that you are planning a wedding if you don"t have to. Some vendors mark up the price of services for weddings, so you may pay more in the end than you would for a similarly sized event with the same needs.

Try to delegate someone who will be your go to person during your wedding day. You may forget to get something or bring something, and it would be a good idea to have someone who is not part of your wedding party who could run miscellaneous errands like this for you.

If you want to save money on your destination wedding, have your honeymoon in the same location! You can usually get a great deal on the hotel for a longer stay, and you"ll only have to do research on the place that you"ve selected for your wedding. This will also give you more time to relax as you won"t be scurrying to the airport to get on your plane.

When sending out your wedding invitations, remember that it is your day, so avoid any person or combination of people that will ruin it in any way for you. It may be an insult to someone not to be invited, but if having them at your wedding will cause even the slightest of issues for you or your future spouse, it is really in your best interest to keep them off your guest list.

Planning a wedding can be a lot of work, but in the end it"s all worth it. The important thing to remember is that the day is about celebration, so make sure to enjoy and celebrate every moment. Use these tips to help you have the wedding of your dreams.

Great Ideas To Help Make Your Wedding Day Perfect!

Great Ideas To Help Make Your Wedding Day Perfect!

Weddings can be a frantic and hectic process for brides and grooms. Planning for a wedding holds as much precedence as the wedding itself, as the happy couple must decide who gets to come to the wedding, what will be served at the wedding, and how everything will look. The advice in this article should make any wedding less hectic.

If you want an outdoor reception, make sure everybody can hear properly. Perhaps you might need some equipment set up if you cannot find a quiet location. Think about the sound of the wind, of the waves if you are going to get married by the sea or simply the sound of traffic.

Make sure that you send your dress to get cleaned the day after your wedding and that it is wrapped up for you to hold as a keepsake. You will want to limit the amount of dust that gets on your dress so that it stays fresh for years to come.

Save money on expensive floral arrangements and centerpieces by creating a more relaxed, informal, tea party-inspired reception area or wedding breakfast. Think delicate: small, dainty, fragrant pink and yellow rosebuds, affordable carnations, and tiny daisies. You can use vintage teacups and place settings to complete the look. Instead of a large, tiered cake, inquire about sweet, perfectly portioned petit fors.

When selecting a limousine company to use for your wedding, look for a company that charges by the day, rather than the hour. Hourly rates tend to be much more expensive than companies that charge for the whole day. Also, do not reserve more limousines than what you will need.

Discuss sponsorship with vendors who will be servicing your wedding. Many vendors will reduce costs if you allow them to do small things such as their name on the place cards for tables, listing them in the wedding program or perhaps a mention during the reception festivities by the DJ. These small savings can add up quickly.

Meanwhile bachelor and bachelorette parties are very popular in today"s society; consider what strain it may bring to your relationship before you have even wed. Instead, opt to have a thank you party for all of the wedding participants and bring everyone together in an open event. This avoids any questionable outcomes of a bachelor or bachelorette party and makes everyone else feel included.

Typically, you will have a set way that you want everything to go for your wedding. If something does not go according to plan, try not to stress out. Adjust to the situation so that you can make the most of what you have and avoid any stress on the day of your wedding.

Furthermore, weddings can be frantic and hectic. Planning a wedding is important as the bride and groom must decide all of the important details of the wedding down to the last. But, using the advice from this article, any wedding should be less hectic and frantic. This will make the planning stage easier for the bride and groom, therefore be a wonderful stepping stone to planning events together as a married couple.

Great Wedding Tips For Any Engaged Couple 3

Great Wedding Tips For Any Engaged Couple

A wedding is often called a Special Day, with that capitalization very much intentional. Few people experience any occasion more memorable and more important to them. Among important life experiences, weddings are unique because they are typically planned well in advance. This article will give you the ideas you need to plan the perfect wedding and make it a truly memorable occasion.

If you are not religious, but your spouse or their family is, consider getting married in the church. Since you are not religious, it does not affect you, but it will probably mean a great deal to your spouse. Chances are they have been dreaming of it their whole lives.

Decide on a child policy for your wedding and stick to it. Keep it the same for everyone but you need to realize that some of your guests may get upset if they see that someone was allowed to bring their child when they were not. You can either allow children to attend, have an adult only wedding or provide child care at your event.

Consider saving money on the limousine. You can use a friend or a relative"s nice car to transport you from the wedding ceremony to the reception. Very few people are going to see how you get to the site anyway; use the money for something a little more practical instead.

As soon as you choose a wedding date, it is best to book the reception hall or site. It is best to do this several weeks, if not sooner, before the wedding. This will assure that you will have exactly the location you want for your special day.

Including children in wedding ceremonies becoming more and more popular as there are many blended families in this modern age. If you are planning a wedding and there are children on either side, it is a wonderful idea to include them in the ceremony in some way. This is easy to do and you can include them in vows, a special ceremony or offering them a token as your affection before or during the ceremony.

A good thing for the bride to keep in mind when it comes to weddings is to be sure that you do not overdo it either with tanning or fake tan solutions before your wedding date. It would be a nightmare for you if your skin were burnt or orange for your wedding day.

Reserve several different blocks of hotel rooms for your wedding. You want to make sure that you have something that will fit everyone"s budget, and reserving the rooms in advance will give your guests a better rate. Approximately four weeks before the wedding, release any rooms that have not been booked. Make sure you don"t reserve at any hotels that have cancellation policies.

Making use of tips like these can help turn any wedding into an experience to remember. Not every marriage will last forever, but the memories from a wedding are permanent. By taking heed of helpful advice, a good wedding planner can ensure that those memories are as pleasant and unique as possible.

Make It A Great Day With These Wedding Tips (4)

Make It A Great Day With These Wedding Tips

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life. It is precisely this quality that may make planning a wedding overwhelming for many people. So many decisions must be made that wedding planning is often a source of contention. This article is meant to provide you with the tips and advice you need to approach your wedding as calmly and thoroughly as possible.

To document your wedding day the best that you can, make sure that you have a large guest book. This will allow people to write what they are feeling and jot down some of the memories that they had with you. This can be a memorable keepsake for the rest of your life.

When taking photos at a wedding things can get hectic. Have a family member help the photographer out by getting all the family together when it"s time to have group shots. It"s a lot easier to call people by name in the case that they"re not doing what they"re supposed to be.

Get properly fitted underwear for your wedding. A comfortable and supportive bra will not only ease the pressure on your back and shoulders, but also adjust your shape to give you a flattering look. Find a good lingerie store in your area who will fit you and order you the correct undergarments.

Consider wearing an heirloom wedding gown from your mother or grandmother. This can give your wedding a very classic feel, and it will have a sentimental meaning too. Also, it saves you from having to purchase an expensive wedding gown of your own. The gown can always be altered if the fit or style are not what you are looking for.

When picking out your bridesmaids dresses for your wedding, let your bridesmaids have some say in the decision. You want to make sure that they are comfortable in what they wear on your big day! Plus, having them help to make the decision can take some of the pressure off of you.

Keep your outdoor wedding decorations simple, at all costs. You will want to be the central of your wedding and too many decorations can take away from this. Keep your decorations very neat and ornate, but make sure not to go overboard, in order to allow your guests to maximize their experience.

While a perfectly matched place setting with plates, bowls, and silverware can create a dramatic, elegant, and timeless appearance for receptions and rehearsal dinners, it can also be extremely expensive. Instead, consider opting for plates, bowls, and utensils that share a common theme, such as a particular color, all floral prints, or a mismatched shabby chic look.

Every girl dreams of a fairy tale wedding, but very few girls dream of planning their wedding. Costs and conflicts can often present barriers to the perfect wedding. By applying the advice from this article, you should be able to get the best deals and apply your funds the most efficiently in order to have the fairy tale you have always dreamed of.

Quick And Easy Ways To Plan A Great Wedding

Quick And Easy Ways To Plan A Great Wedding

The perfect wedding is one where the couple can relax and even laugh at the things that go wrong on their wedding day. It is a fact that something will go wrong and it is best to expect it and to take it in stride. This article can help you to adopt the right attitude to a happy wedding day.

The day before you have your wedding, you should pamper yourself as much as possible by going to a spa for a massage. This will allow you to reduce the stress and tension of the days leading up to your wedding so that you feel more comfortable walking down the aisle.

Don"t get drunk! If you don"t want your guests getting inebriated and making a scene, then you don"t want to behave like that either. Keep your alcohol intake to a minimum so you can actually remember the night you had for the rest of your life and not end up on the nightly news.

Have a small decorated cake for the traditional cake cutting event, and serve guests sheet cake. Not only will the guests not realize nor care that their cake is not the one being cut, the bride and groom get their cake cutting pictures and save a lot of money in the process.

Here is an affordable wedding tip! If you want to make the most of your wedding budget, consider using vintage pieces for your big day. You can purchase your wedding dress, jewelry and even the gifts for your bridesmaids at incredible prices! There are many online stores that sell vintage items, and you may be able to find a local shop as well.

Although the weather may be at it"s peak, you probably don"t want to plan your destination wedding for a time when the most tourists are showing up at the location you"ve chosen. Try to aim for a time when there is a lull, like when kids go back to school in September.

Hire only the wedding services that are absolutely necessary. You probably do not need to have a wedding planner to assist you; an organized friend or family member who wants to help can do a great job instead. Similarly, you could also hire a DJ instead of an expensive band. Think about what is important to you and go from there.

For brides-to-be, it is important not to gain any weight before the big day. You have already been sized for your dress and weight gain can cause your dress to have to be altered, which could be impossible. Try not to eat bad foods and exercise as much as you can in the months before your wedding.

As previously mentioned, the fairy tale wedding doesn"t really happen. Every wedding has it"s unexpected disasters and the best thing to do is accept they will happen and don"t stress about it. By putting a proper attitude in your wedding plans, you can make your wedding day a whole lot happier.

Here Comes The Bride! Tips For A Great Wedding

Here Comes The Bride! Tips For A Great Wedding

Weddings are a special time to exchange vows with the one you love and begin your journey together as a married couple. When the word wedding comes to mind, many people imagine being surrounded by friends and family at a big reception. If something more intimate is what you desire, this article should help give you some ideas for a more intimate affair.

Find out if you can bundle services at your wedding venue. For example, find out if your venue can host both the wedding ceremony and reception as well as the catering. See if these costs save you more than doing things individually so you can save money altogether when making your plans.

You should do your best to help your guests get to your wedding. Even if they are paying for the trip themselves, you can have transportation waiting for them at the airport and pay for their accommodations. Make sure they have a pleasant traveling experience and will enjoy the wedding.

When buying a wedding dress make sure that you get all the details of your purchase from the shop in writing. You do not want to quibble about how many alterations you are allowed or when the dress will be completed as you get close to the wedding. With an agreement in writing you can head off misunderstandings.

Plan early if you"d like to have a destination wedding. You need to book far in advance to ensure that all the locations you"ll need to rent, from hotel rooms to ceremony to reception, will be available during the time you wish to use them. You should also check into renting vehicles ahead of time, just in case.

To save money on your wedding, you may want to consider asking a family member or friend to make your cake. Wedding cakes can go for hundreds of dollars, which is an unnecessary expense if you know someone that is good at baking. Perhaps having a family member or friend make your cake can be their wedding present to you!

To save money on your wedding, you may want to consider making a CD of your favorite songs instead of having a DJ. The price of a DJ can really hurt your pockets and picking out the songs that you and your spouse like can make your day more personal.

If you"re planning a destination wedding, don"t plan on getting any wedding gifts. Your guests will probably be spending around a thousand dollars just to attend, so asking for a gift on top of that is excessive. Let them know in their invitation that their attendance is enough of a gift for you!

Consider browsing and shopping online for your wedding gown. Many are available at wholesale prices. Used gowns are even sold for a fraction of the price of new ones. Shopping online can help you to find the gown of your dreams, at a price you can truly afford.

As stated at the beginning of the article, when many people think of a wedding they imagine a big affair, but this does not necessarily have to be the case. If you are looking for a more non-traditional intimate wedding experience, this article should have given you some great ideas for planning your special day.

Make It A Great Day With These Wedding Tips (2)

Make It A Great Day With These Wedding Tips

Weddings are beautiful and important days meant to be about two people in love, but they are often about something else as well. Weddings are very expensive, and the prices just keep going up! This article will give you helpful advice to keep your big day affordable, without sacrificing the beauty and elegance you desire.

If you are traveling abroad for your wedding, consider hiring a local wedding planner. A good wedding planner in your country of choice can make the difference between your greatest memories and your worst nightmares. With the planner at your side you can overcome language barriers, service mishaps and any multitude of wedding day chaos that would ruin the day.

Make cuts in the guest list before doing anything else to save money. Most of the time there are wedding guests that don"t need to be invited. A relative you haven"t talked to in years may not need an invitation, for example. Getting real about who is invited to your wedding can save hundreds of dollars.

You may want to consider not planning your wedding for a Saturday. There are a lot of weddings planned on Saturdays, normally because most everyone already has the day off. The issue with planning your wedding for that day is that most every church and reception hall is booked far in advance for each Saturday. By changing the day, you may find that the venue you genuinely want is available.

Try to avoid the holidays when you are planning your wedding. Yes, some weddings are going to happen on holidays for specific reasons. However, if your"s is not one of these, target a date that will not force guests to decide between your special day and a holiday trip. Find a neutral time that will allow for the best turnout.

When having an outdoor wedding, the food served can be greatly affected by the weather. If you are planning a wedding during hot weather, ask your caterer if they have experience in serving food when it is hot outside. If the food cannot be kept at the correct temperature, avoid foods that have mayonnaise and any other dishes that will need to be kept cold.

Make sure to let any parents attending your wedding know the itinerary for your day so they can work situations like naps, changing diapers, feedings, or bedtimes into the schedule. They can also plan to have a babysitter, if necessary, and know when they"ll have to leave to go home to relieve her.

If you are looking to get married you should decide very quickly what your budget will be. Many couples fall into the trap of endless planning and then adding up their expenses and find they are quite shocked. By setting a budget ahead of time you prevent yourself from overspending.

As was mentioned in the beginning of the article, wedding costs have been skyrocketing. Being on a budget does not have to ruin your wedding day. The tips in the article you just read offer you beneficial advice for a wedding that is both beautiful and cost-effective, which is exactly what you need to be less stressed on your big day!

Great Tips That Can Help You Plan Your Wedding! 4

Great Tips That Can Help You Plan Your Wedding!

Weddings are one of the most planned for events on earth. So many people plan for a perfect day and usually, start planning a year or more in advance. This article can help you to deal with the stress of planning such a big event and be able to have an enjoyable day and not a stress filled nightmare.

Make room for the gown. You are going to want to have a nice open area to hang your gown while you get ready. If you have it hanging in a cluttered closet, you are going to find that wrinkles are going to appear, and this will not look flattering.

If you are planning a wedding reception on a budget, consider asking the local culinary school for help. Culinary schools will often provide a meal for your reception for just the cost of food. This gives their students valuable training, and provides you with a catered meal at a significantly reduced cost.

When it comes to your wedding, be sure that you do your research when it comes to the band or disc jockey that you hire. This is important because hiring a poor band or disc jockey can make or break your wedding reception. Make sure that you get reviews from recent couples before making your decision.

Make sure to allow a cushion of time between your wedding and reception. Weddings almost always run late. Receptions usually must start on time. You typically book your reception from a particular start time, to a particular end time. If your wedding runs late, you might be paying for time that you and your guests cannot even enjoy.

Here"s a fun tip - practice your wedding kiss! You want to make it sincere and not sexy, not too short but not too long. NO TONGUE! Practice how you"ll hold your partner"s face, if you choose to, or where your hands will be otherwise. You only get one shot, so you"ll need LOTS of practice beforehand!

Consider having an early wedding and turning your reception into a brunch. If you need to save money, one area that you can trim from is the meal. Dinner tends to be very expensive, so moving the reception to earlier in the day will save you money; you will also have the rest of the day to spend alone as a couple.

When planning a wedding, one of the most important things to remember is not to stress out over the details. A wedding is a joyful, fun event, and any missing details will likely never be noticed by the guests. Focus your energy and worry on the big things, and enjoy the fact that you are preparing for the one of the biggest days in your life!

As already covered, weddings can be a big source of stress. Proper planning is important but it is possible to over plan it. By taking the wedding advice in the above article, you can learn what things are not worth stressing over and learn where any potential problems may occur. When it comes to weddings, expect the unexpected.

Make your own decorations for the wedding reception. Enlist your friends and family members for help in creating favors, centerpieces and other decorations. Look for the unique talents that these individuals may be able to offer; if someone has nice handwriting, ask them to address your invitations and offer a service of your own in return.

If you are short on cash for your wedding, you might want to consider having a cash bar at the reception. A cash bar can be a great way to offset the costs.
