Toyota Motor Corp., the world"s largest automaker, said on Thursday that the company did not know when repairs for gas pedal problems could be made to its drivers although the corporation has halted sales of its eight models and made 2 recalls just recently.
According to Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons, the company engineers are working on solutions and ways to repair the gas pedal problems in existing cars and trucks. The spokesman said the corporation has not decided to repair the pedals or to replace them altogether. Lyons added that he did not know when customer could see action from the Japanese automaker.
Recalls were also extended to China and Europe on Thursday by the corporation, With this massive recall, the reputation of the company which has been built up after a long time for producing safe and durable vehicles seems to be undermined. According to Toyota spokeswoman Ririko Takeuchi, a recall for 75,000 RAV4 produced between March 2009 and January 2010 in China will be made in February. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles in Europe listed in the next recall has not been estimated.
Just three days ago, the corporation announced its 1,200 dealers in the United States to suspend sales of the eight models including its top-selling Camry and Corolla in the recall list last week due to stuck gas pedal. Toyota"s scope of recent recalls really made people concerned.

Pedal producer CTS is now manufacturing redesigned pedals. According to CTS officials, redesigned pedals have been pushed to production at three factories. The company is also provider of other carmakers such as Honda, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Ford in China. However, pedal designs of these producers are not the same. CTS and Toyota are now working together to find a potential and quick repairs for existing vehicles.
