Professional Repairs and Drainage Cleaning

Maintaining drains is a key part of facilities management. If drains are not adequately maintained, expensive and unnecessary complications can occur.

For example, drains can become seriously blocked or badly broken, whereas if they are monitored regularly problems can be headed off at the first sign and before they become serious.

Drain repair options

Up until a few years ago if your drain became cracked, warped or broken, the whole pipe would often have to be replaced and excavation work would be required. However, these days there are much simpler, cheaper and quicker options which are just as effective.

Drains can crack for a variety of reasons, such as ground movement and heavy traffic flow overhead. Sometimes it"s just due to the material that some pipes are often made from, such as clay with cement joints, which are simply not able to last forever.

Once a drain has cracked, roots can get into the pipe, leading to severe blockages and eventual collapse.

One option to fix a cracked drain is to use drain lining. Through this process, a permanent resin tube lining is added to the cracked drain. Drain repair experts can calculate exactly what the chemical composition of the resin needs to be for the conditions of the drain. This ensures that the drain is out of use for the minimum amount of time possible.

Drain patch lining is also another option. This means a localised area of a pipe with a hole or a cracked drain can be sealed with a patch liner or chemical grouting. The patch lining service will last for a minimum of five years.

Pipes can also be ‘re-rounded" to re-shape them if they have become squashed or mis-shapen. After the pipes have been re-rounded to their original form, resin lining can be added for strength.

Drain cleaning options

The options for drainage cleaning are far cheaper and more environmentally friendly these days than they used to be.

One option is high pressure jetting. Units of 300-400psi are used. The high pressure jets of water are able to clear most blockages which accumulate in drains, such as waste, debris and grease.

Specialist equipment is also available to clear more stubborn blockages such as chewing gum. Specialist lances can be used to clear chewing gum and graffiti from surfaces or equipment.

You can also have the following cleaned and/or emptied:

Petrol interceptors
Septic tanks
Pump stations
